Manuscripts and Sheet Music
The manuscript collection spans a wide range of scholarly materials, reflecting the systematic research conducted by MFA collaborators from 1930 to the present while also preserving earlier scholarship.
Particularly noteworthy is the complete series of transcriptions of the 1930–1931 recordings in Western notation, prepared by prominent musicians and musicologists such as Nikos Skalkotas, Samuel Baud-Bovy, Georgios Poniridis, Petros Petridis, and Eugène Borrel.
The collection also includes significant Byzantine musical manuscripts, notably works by the Phanariot chanters Georgios and Nikolaos Redestinos, dating from approximately 1870 to 1930.
Special emphasis is placed on careful cataloging, digitization, and preservation. The materials are stored in acid-free archival boxes under controlled environmental conditions.
